Romans 1-8 Study Guide

Be able to describe the contents of each of the first eight chapters of Romans in a couple of sentences.

 

 

Be able to identify the key verse from each chapter (not from memory, but from a list).

 

 

Read Romans 1-8 at one sitting (You will be asked if you did indeed do this.  Be able to answer “Yes.”).

 

 

Be able to answer the following questions (you know or can easily find the answers to these questions):

 

 

            When did the Apostle Paul write the book of Romans?

 

            How did Paul describe the believers in Rome (see 1:7)?

 

            Why did Paul want to visit with them (see 1:11 & 15)?

 

            According to Paul, what is a true Jew (see 2:28,29)?

 

Who does Paul employ in chapter four as an individual who was justified by faith (4:1)?

 

What two individuals does Paul compare in chapter five (5:11ff)?

Put Romans 6 into your own words (5-7 sentences).

 

What do we learn about the Apostle Paul in chapter seven?

 

Why doesn’t Paul consider his situation hopeless (7:24,25 & 8:1)?

 

What are believers to do according to 8:5-8 and 8:13?

 

Why is 8:28-38 so encouraging to believers (what truths does Paul share in these verses)?
